About Us
Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ/METU), founded in 1956, is an internationally renowned research university, recognized for the excellence of its scientific work and its commitment to large-scale research projects. It holds a leading position in Turkey, particularly thanks to its publications and funding from national and international organizations. The METU Institute of Marine Sciences plays a key role in climate research and sustainable development. It contributes to the development of climate change mitigation strategies, risk analysis, and the implementation of environmental policies aligned with international goals. Through its projects and collaborations, the university actively participates in the ecological transition, particularly regarding ocean-related issues, and supports the dissemination of scientific knowledge to the general public and educational stakeholders.
